We are in NM headed north on I10 on the last leg of our journey home. We spent 3 nights and 2 days in Abilene TX with family which was both wonderful and exhausting! 7 adults and two kids in the house all the time plus 2-6 more people at times...lots of conversations at the same time! We got to celebrate our grand-niece Taylor's 3rd birthday too. She is precious and precocious too.
So sweet and innocent.
And a party girl too...
...who did a face plant in her cake after singing happy birthday to herself!
I grew up about 2 hours from here and remember going to Silver Dollar City on a couple of school trips but didn't remember it was in Branson. Of course, that was decades ago! We are looking forward to taking in a show, probably Shoji, and enjoy natural things like riding the ducks. And I'll probably go to the outlet mall. Oh, yes, do laundry for Larry to wash off the One Lap of America road dirt (One Lap Blog).
I know you are looking down from heaven and smiling as we drive past Ft. Leonard Wood and Buckhorn. And I'm glad you are at peace with Grandma, many generations of great grandmothers, aunts, cousins, a sister-in-law and a dear niece. I miss you but know you can breath now. Thanks for taking such good care of me and giving me the courage and confidence to try many things.
After a grueling 8 day, 10 track, 12 state, 18 event One Lap of America race for Larry and Josie plus a 4 state 1700 mile trip for me, we reunited in Joliet IL on Friday. Pam drove down to watch the track events too.
We spent 2 nights in South Bend. Now we are headed to Branson MO for 2 days, 3 nights of R&R.
I've been so busy with preps and transit and blogs for Josie and Larry in the Cannonball One Lap of America I haven't written here at all. I started out the AM in South Bend IN watching a wet skid pad event at the Tire Rack. Then said goodbye to Larry for the week and headed back north. Decided to run the Chicago gauntlet including tolls - not terribly bad but I was so tired when I got to Madison that I could hardly hold a conversation. I'm now in Madison, WI with our friend Pam for the weekend. Looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow and not having to drive anywhere. Or I guess it's today. Happy sunday.
